Concentration

By Caleb Spilchen On July 2, 2010 Under Goal Setting, Online Business, Teenage Blogging, Tips to Survive Online

According to TFD Concentration means “The act or process of concentrating, especially the fixing of close, undivided attention.”. Which basically means, getting your mind focused on the task at hand. Say when I’m blogging, I should be concentrating on my post, that I’m writing. Maybe I’m on the job, so I should be concentrating on that job.

With so many distractions in the world, I’ve found that it’s really hard to concentrate on one task for a long time, eventually other things go on around you, and you’re distracted. Usually then it takes a few minutes to get rid of the distraction and back on task.

The other day I noticed that we have 127 posts or so on this blog, but only 97 are published. Do you want to know why? I’ve started a post, and then gotten distracted, by the things around me. Without that distraction can you imagine,  how many more posts we would have on here, and how many more visitors I could get?

Concentration is one of the #1 things that can change whether you are successful or not. If you’re starting a new site, and can’t concentrate on making the site, chances are the site fails. You, like me, possibly struggle with concentration, while at work, or even blogging. Maybe its hard to concentrate on that freelance link building you’re doing.

That’s why I’ve written up a list of things to do, to help yourself concentrate so you can get the job done and then concentrate on the other stuff. This list should help you stay on task. It’s widely known, that if you concentrate you can get better results.

  • Turn Off: IRC, MSN, Yahoo, or any other Instant Messenger. Get off the chat rooms. – It happens to me all the time, I’ll be in the middle of a job, and then someone will instant message me with some business opportunity, then I get onto that. When I’m offline, they’ll have to wait till I’m done, that removes that distraction.
  • Turn On: Music – If it helps you to concentrate, or rock out while your working. Go ahead and listen to music, because it can help you do your work.
  • Open: A New Window – If the job involves researching what you’re talking about, open a new window, and use tabs for all your queries of research.
  • Get: A nice quiet work area, thats without distraction. Example – My brother just asked me to call someone for him, while I was writing this article. That’s a huge distraction, find a place where nobody can bug you.

If you use those tips, and make up a few of your own, you will be able to concentrate without distraction and get the job done faster, and better.

Have a great day,

Caleb Spilchen
