Your Friend, Facebook.

Man, blogging can stink sometimes. You write and research and design for hours on end… and all you find yourself with are 20 viewers per day and 11 measly subscribers. You exhaust yourself trying to get that epiphany idea that will send people FLOCKING to your website. You’re vulnerable, and that’s exactly when those “get-traffic-fast” sellers start to circle over your head like vultures.
There’s gotta be a better way. I’ve found one that I’ll be happy to share with you for nothing in return. Yes, I’m actually just a nice person like that.
First, DON’T PURCHASE ANYTHING. Even though it seems very convincing, don’t even consider buying any product that promises you “insane amounts of traffic for little to no effort!!” I’d wager my car that it’ll get you nowhere but $45-500 in the hole.
Next, pay close attention. Your friends are YOUR FRIENDS; you keep them around because you feel close to them for some reason. Don’t be afraid to expose your blog to them. Those social network sites are WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD. I’ll show you how through an example.
A few months ago, I created a group on facebook. It wasn’t anything serious – I simply wanted to see if I could actually get a lot of people to join a group. My goal was 1000 people. I thought up a catchy title that people could relate to – “Despite what many people think, I actually care about my education.” I sent out invitations to everybody in my friends list – 400 people total.
Three days later, there were 550 people in the group. You wanna know something even cooler? Less than 100 of the people who I had originally invited actually accepted. Most of the people in my group are people who I don’t know.
The thing I like most about facebook groups is the fact that I can send a message to everybody. It took me a while to tap into that power, though. If I was going to use it, I wanted to use it wisely. I wrote an ebook titled “Make A’s in 9 Days,” and I sent the link to everybody in the group. Of course, I didn’t just send a link in a message, it required some nice wording so as to avoid being pushed off as spam.
Final Result: 250% increase in traffic in just one day. I earned 15 new subscribers from the ordeal, and many of the people who clicked through to the site but didn’t subscribe actually linked to the site on their profiles.
I could have tapped into this months ago, but my shyness kept me from this treasure. Facebook is a wonderful tool is you use it correctly. Be creative, and you’ll figure out a way to make it work. Best of luck to you all!
