Why I'm so ticked off with Closed Minded people!

Seriously, let me just go on a rant about this, I am really ticked off because there is an overflow of people, filling online forums, who are close minded. According to Wikitionary, “closed-minded” means, unreceptive to new ideas or information. The new idea that I’m talking about is Teenagers and people of different cultures, become Online Business People.

I’m a teenager and I’ve been working online for almost a year to date, and I’ve made a good amount of cash… But you wouldn’t believe how many people don’t understand that age doesn’t matter in online business. They also have this feeling that because people are younger, they can look down on them. Well, let’s break down all the information that I just presented to you.

First of all, lets squash the comment that I’ve been hearing. “If you’re not 18, you can’t work online”. This is basically the comment from all the people, who don’t think those not of the age of majority, should be able to run an online business due to s0me restrictions that may happen. Well, lets squash this.

In Canada, at the age of 13, I could deliver newspapers etc. That’s the same thing as distributed an online good or service in other words, whats the difference? How come its perfectly acceptable for a 13-year old to deliver papers but not do an online service?  They’ve passed Coppa, and they can browse the Internet freely? What’s the problem. The only other reason I’ve heard from people is this, a direct quote from someone I would consider close-minded on the issue of online business, for teenagers.

I mean, simply due to your age, you aren’t even allowed to participate with AdSense and other programs.
Why are you circumventing legalities?

This was a question asked to me by a very closed-minded individual, and here is my response for viewers of my blog. This is exactly why I believe anyone, of any age can work on the Internet.

When you’re under 18, chances are you live with a parent. Many parents are very supportive of there child’s actions in their online business, and therefore will sign up to adsense programs etc to allow there child to use the program effectively on their website. The parent is almost like the advisor, and when you’re under 18 I don’t suggest working without telling your parents, however you can work just with their help.

Now, the second thing people have been hearing across forums, and the message that’s spread is that people who are older, are somehow more important, and better then people of their teenage years. Some people have the false idea, that it somehow makes them better to be older. I don’t usually do this on my blog, but I’m going to quote my religion here, from the Bible.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. (NIV (C) 1984)

That verse says not to let anyone look down are you because you are young, considering that verse, don’t let people look down on you in your online business. Stand up for yourself and make sure to point out that age in online business doesn’t matter at all.

I’m not saying all closed-minded people on the Internet, think that teens can’t work online. That would be blasphemy, what I’m saying is the number of people out there saying that is great, and it needs to be squashed like a bug.

It’s not true, I’ve worked online for long enough to know this.
