Stop, Flipping Burgers! Start Working Online – Here’s How

By Caleb Spilchen On May 28, 2010 Under Featured, Online Business

Seriously, it’s time to put down the flipper and get a job that you want, a job that will make you more money, and will make you happier. You need a job that will give you more time to do what you want. It’s time to stop working for the man.

Before you keep reading, this post is going to be long, really long, because I’m going to tell you how to stop flipping burgers for some greasy restaurant and start your own online business – if you’re happy flipping burgers at the greasy stop, just don’t read it. Are we clear?

Moving on, let’s go with step one.

Step One: When starting an Online Business, it’s great to have money to play with, to invest in different parts of your business. That’s why “burger flipping” and those restaurant jobs are valuable, because they give you some money to start with. Some money that you can use to kick-start your business.

Right now, you want to be able to Make Money Online, so you should open a paypal account, so you can get the payments. Before you can move onto the next step, follow all the methods of verification, including adding your bank account (so you can get the money), then you can move onto the next step of this.

Step Two: This is the most important step, this is the step that defines what we do, with our online business, this is the step where you figure out what you are good at. Choose one of these three things, that you think you are best at:

1. Writing

2. Discussion

3. Design

Now that you have your choice you need to make a brand out of it. If you’ve chosen writing, your brand should be about “content creation”, if you’ve chosen Discussion, you’re going to want a “forum posting business” brand. If it’s design you will want to start a “logo design company”, and there are other businesses you can make out of this.

Now, before we move onto step 3, we should set up a website for our business. Setting up a website, can be easily done with the following simple steps:

1. Buy a domain name, choose a name that will represent your business type, don’t choose thecloset.com for your article writing business, choose something that works. If you’re looking for a place to get the domain try name.com.

2. Buy Web Hosting, find a company  to host the content on your website, so that it’s safe and loads fast when people visit your website. I would actually recommend you try HostGator, there known to be a leader in web hosting.

3. Set up a site – I would recommend using WordPress (free download), basically you just download and follow all the instructions to install, then just add pages and posts to talk about your business. (you’ll probably want to get a good theme for the blog, read my review of the ubt) – once you have a ite started – make sure you set up a price list, for your business, if your doing content creation/forum posting/design just look at other companies, and price like they do..

Now to Step Three, kick-starting and getting customers to your business, after that it’s clear sailing, no more steps, just you and YOUR business.

Step Three: Getting Customers – Forgive me, but this is the hardest step in this long process, it’s getting people to actually buy your product/service. Which is why I recommend starting small with selling your service, first for all of those services, make a listing (with a link to your site), on DigitalPoint, SiteReviver & NetBuilders, this should generate some repeat customers.

If you’ve saved up money in step one, you may want to spend some money on Google Adwords , and pay per click for people visiting your site, hoping to make some sales of your service. With money to get yourself advertising, the opportunities are endless.

End: I didn’t want to go into the simple details of every business, because frankly you need to learn as you go, you need to make mistakes so you know what not to do, this post is there to give you the basic knowledge, now it’s your job to apply this to your business.

I hope by now you’re not flipping burgers anymore, but working on your online business.

I hope this helps you,

Caleb “bozonessinc” Spilchen
