How to build back-links to your blog?
This is a part of our series: Start blogging and make millions
This question get’s asked all the time. In fact someone asked me today how to get back-links to their blog. I’ve even had people ask me what the heck a back-link is.
So let’s get to that first. According to Wikipedia, a backlink is “incoming links to a website or webpage”. Basically it’s links from others websites to your blog.
Ok, so now that I have told you what a back-link is you’re probably wondering how you get these back-links. I myself have thought long and hard about this for many long days and here’s a few ways:
Forum Signatures
If you’re like me, you probably spend many days’ posting on different forums. You’ve probably noticed that under every post you get this “signature” in the footer of the post. These signatures are places you can put a link to your blog. Especially if you have many posts on the forum – it can be a great way to get mass links to your website.
Blog Commenting
Commenting on other’s blogs is a great way to gain back-links. Just leave your URL in the bar that says “website” and there is a link to your blog right there – simple.
Link Exchange
Exchanging links with other bloggers is very helpful in gaining attention and back-links to your webpage. E-mail other bloggers that you’re interested in exchanging links you will get a good response. Make sure each e-mail is unique and directed at that exact bloggers. They want to know that you’re thinking about them and aren’t just sending the same e-mail to 100 other blogs in the same niche.
Link Baiting
Leaving your link in posts, is a great way to get targeted back-links with your keyword, however I would worry about it being allowed wherever you choose to do it. This method is called down by many users and not a method that I myself would actively use.
Social Bookmarking
Submit your latest posts and your website to different Social Bookmarking sites so people notice your name and your link gets out there. Great ones for this are Yahoo Buzz, Digg, Mixx and Propeller. Mass social bookmarking across hundreds of sites, is a great way to boost up your traffic on slow days, as well as get valuable back-links.
Directories.
Submit your website to different directories with your keyword as the title. This helps gain back-links with that keyword.
There are so many other ways to pick up back-links and I have not even skimmed the surface in this article.
